Reception at the CIUSSS

In a hospital, the business software is untouchable. It manages patient records, schedules, and how departments run day to day. Changing it means months of project work, training, and bugs to iron out. So when it’s time to add a kiosk to simplify reception, nobody wants to reopen that whole undertaking.

That’s exactly the situation at the CIUSSS Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, in Canada.

A new kiosk, the same software

The facility already had its own business software for managing patient arrivals. ESII provided the missing piece: the interactive kiosk.

Reception now runs on a Twana™ Ultimate kiosk, entirely dedicated to running the CIUSSS’s software. All the built-in readers are functional, letting patients scan their health insurance card on their own as soon as they arrive.

The middleware that ties it all together

Technically, it’s the jsCORE middleware that makes this flexibility possible.

Built natively into the STELA, TWANA, and KEO kiosks, it drives the full range of peripherals (QR code reader, RFID reader, thermal printer, A4 scanner and printer, webcam) and makes them available to any of your applications.

This use case perfectly illustrates our kiosks’ ability to adapt to any customer environment. Since we design and manufacture our own kiosks, your point of contact is a hardware specialist through and through.
