Single line in Spain

Gros Mercat, a cash & carry brand has a network of 69 stores in Spain and claims 200 000 regular customers. The sales area of each store extends over 2 500m2 and offers 17 000 products. To offer a great experience at check-out, this retailer selected the single line.

The idea is a single line installed before checkouts. At the end of the line, a video screen displays the counter’s number where the customer has to go. This number is displayed when the cashiers call the next customer.

This solution decreases the perceived wait: the customers always move in the queue. Also, this solution decreases the stress for cashiers, they don’t have several customers waiting in front of the counters.
